About Electronics and Communication Engineering

Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) is the application of science and mathematics to practical problems in the electronics and communications field. Electronics and communications engineers engage in research, design, development and testing of the electronic equipment used in various systems. This field is closely aligned with Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the advances in CSE play a significant role in the advancement of ECE. This is why a degree in ECE is always in high demand.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2013 with an annual intake of 60 students. It offers an under graduate program in Electronics and Communication Engineering with the following objectives

Train the students to become top Electronics and Communication Engineers.
To provide avenues to the students forIndustrial training and Career counseling
Personality development to become responsible citizen of the nation.

To strengthen the Industry Institute Interaction cell. The department has a strong team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members. The department has some of the finest labs, with modern equipments like Digital storage Oscilloscope, Microwave sources and active, passive devices etc. which give the students an hands on experience.

Objectives

Electron Device And Circuits

Objectives

Study the characteristics of Electron Devices.
Study the characteristic of CE, CB, CC, CS and differential Amplifier.

Design and implementation of combinational Logic circuits using logic gates.
Construction and verification of sequential logic circuits using Flip Flops.
To gain hands on experience in designing electronic circuits.
To learn the fundamental principles of amplifier circuits.
To differentiate feedback amplifiers and oscillators.

Industrial visit

Our third year students visited KELTRON; Trivandrum on 23/09/2015.It produces discrete electronics components for complex equipment and systems.
Our final year students visited Kirloskar Brothers Private Ltd; Coimbatore on 23/02/2017.Students got more ideas related to manufacturing and testing of electronic components.
Our Second year and third year students along with faculty members of ECE department visited Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre,Trivandrum on 24/03/2017as a part of Industrial - Institute Interaction, The students witnessed the rocket launching session organised by VSSC and that really inspired the students.
Students from third year visited Traco cable company Limited, Ernakulam on 01/03/2018.About Traco cable Company; it has the product mix overhead conductors,power cables,control and signaling cables.This company has the customers like various Electricity Boards,BSNL and ESCOMS of other states
Our Second year and third year students visited Signals and Systems, Chennai on 30/09/2018 and 01/10/2018. About Signals and Systems they are the manufactures for Synchronous clock and Energy meters. Students get good exposure about Synchronous clock.

Our Third year and Final year students visited Caliber Interconnect Solutions Coimbatore on 24/08/2019. About Caliber Interconnect Solutions they are the leading IC testing and designing core based company.
