Students Counselling Cell

The Students Counselling Cell of Stella Mary’s College of Engineering (Autonomous) is established to promote the holistic well-being and overall development of students by providing structured and professional counselling support. The Cell aims to address students’ emotional well-being, academic challenges, and career planning needs in a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental environment.

Recognizing that students may face academic pressure, emotional stress, personal challenges, and career-related uncertainties during their academic journey, the Counselling Cell functions as a student-centric support mechanism to guide, mentor, and empower students to overcome difficulties, build resilience, and make informed decisions.

Through trained faculty counsellors, the Cell ensures early identification of concerns, timely intervention, and continuous mentoring, thereby contributing to improved academic performance, emotional stability, and career readiness. The Counselling Cell works in coordination with academic departments, mentors, parents (where appropriate), and institutional leadership to enhance student welfare and retention.

Objective

  • To promote the emotional well-being and mental health of students by providing confidential counselling support for stress, anxiety, and personal challenges.
  • To enhance academic performance and learning effectiveness by addressing academic difficulties, study habits, and time management issues.
  • ⁠To guide students in informed career planning and professional development, including higher education, employability skills, internships, and placement readiness.
  • To identify and support students requiring early intervention through timely counselling, mentoring, and appropriate referrals.
  • To create a supportive, student-friendly campus environment that fosters confidence, resilience, ethical counselling practices, and overall student success.

    Common Computer Lab

    The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has a well-established Computer Practices Laboratory exclusively for First Year students. Computer Practices laboratory provides essential facilities to the students to enhance their knowledge in Programming. The common Lab is equipped with 125 Lenovo Desktop Computer with Intel i3 processor, Windows 7 Professional edition,4 LCD Projector, 2 ton carrier split AC-11,20 KVA UPS-2.

    BigData Lab

    Big data lab is typically equipped with internet access. Computers in this lab are typically arranged in rows, so that every workstation has a similar view of one end of the room to facilitate lecturing or presentations, to facilitate small group work. The Big Data Lab is equipped with 40 Lenovo Desktop computers with Intel i7 Processor, 64 bit OS, 8GB Ram, on screen projector & centralized AC. Programming and Data Structures, Object Oriented Programming Systems, Operating Systems, Internet Programming, Grid and Cloud Computing Lab practical classes are conducted in this Laboratory.


    Software Development Lab

    Software Development Lab is typically equipped with internet access. Computers in this lab are typically arranged in rows, so that every workstation has a similar view of one end of the room to facilitate lecturing or presentations, to facilitate small group work. The Software Development Lab is equipped with 40 Dell Desktop computer with Intel i3 Processor, 32 bit OS,4 GB Ram and 3 AC. Compiler Laboratory and Database Management system, Software Development, Computer Graphics, Mobile Application Development and Network Laboratory practical classes are conducted in this Laboratory.
